Be the Inspiration™
Inspiration comes from many directions, in various shapes and forms and sometimes by surprise. It's priceless any way you slice it. Because it is such a powerful component of life, we've dedicated this marketing campaign to those who inspire.
We hope you feel a bit uplifted by reading about these inspirees. If you know of anyone who should join this list of individuals, please let us know. Let's spread the power of positive thinking, positive doing in Austin and beyond!
If you know someone who inspires you, we'd love to hear about them. Send us an email at inspire@spibelt.com

Who: Mark Garza
Why: I created The Flatwater Foundation after seeing first hand how many people one diagnosis can affect, and realizing how important mental health is in the fight against cancer. Without a healthy state of mind, everything can fall apart. Families can divide. Life can seem unimportant.
Exercising with friends, family members and others that are experiencing the challenges of this terrible disease can empower the minds of so many. Healthy minds lead to healthy lives, and positive life experiences are key to winning the fight.
We are currently raising funds to provide families, that may not otherwise have the means, access to counseling, personal trainers, running programs and other therapeutic activities that promote mental well-being. That is our vision, and how we hope to empower Austinites touched by cancer.
We are lucky to have a partner like SPIbelt for our spotlight fundraiser, Dam That Cancer, the city's first ever Stand Up Paddle Board event for the cause! Show your support for the SPIbelt team, or any of our pre-established team members that plan to paddle 21 miles this summer, dam to dam on Lake Austin, to help make our dream a reality.

Who: David Edwards
Why: I'm David Edwards, a teacher, coach & mentor. As an elementary PE teacher at Volma Overton Elementary, I strive to inspire a lifelong passion for play & movement. Whether in my class or during participation in extracurricular programs such as Marathon Kids or Neighborhood Longhorns, I challenge each scholar to find an activity they love and to be physically active for the rest of their lives. I'm also the founder of Bulldog Basketball, a nonprofit organization using basketball to teach under-privileged youth how to be successful in the game of life. When the going gets tough, it's easy to quit - but being part of a team means having the discipline and perseverance to push yourself harder than you thought possible for the sake of achieving a common goal. I hope my scholar-athletes can combine this discipline with our program values of academics, attitude, effort, & excellence to overcome whatever obstacles life throws their way. And no matter how busy I get, SPIbelt helps keep my important things close, as I keep moving throughout my day.

Who: Mike Thompson
Why: I'm Mike Thompson, a 4-time cancer survivor, avid triathlete, and Ironman hopeful. My love of endurance sport has blessed me with a life beyond imagining, full of wonderful people, gratifying challenges, and the satisfaction of knowing that a little inspiration goes a long way. When you're battling cancer, you rely on those around you- family, friends, doctors and nurses- to get you through it. But ultimately, you've got to have the will inside yourself to overcome any obstacles that stand in your way. In a triathlon, the same holds true, however it's just you out there. For me, the SPIbelt represents more than just another piece of race-day equipment. It represents all those who helped me get to where I am today, as it becomes a part of me on that course holding all that I need to survive, and will ultimately guide me across the finish line.
